I tell people my writing career has been one big honorable mention.
While I’ve had a handful of publications, my writing has mostly come close but no cigar. Finalist, semi-finalist. We’d like to see the first 50 pages of your manuscript. . .but that’s all. While I appreciate the encouragement, in recent years I’ve become impatient about sharing my work that would otherwise be collecting digital dust on my hard drive.
Hence, this blog. Here you’ll find my formerly published and “honorable mention” essays and stories in full. Why wait for someone to publish my work when I can “publish” it right here?
You might have seen that I have a memoir in the works. It’s almost done, I promise. My plan is to digitally self-publish that and perhaps a collection of short stories, and sell ‘em for a buck or two.
My writing has never been for the money. That’s what the day job’s for.
